Greppone Mazzi Brunello di Montalcino is a rich, intensely flavored wine that begs for rich and hearty dishes such as rack of lamb, seared duck breast with grilled portobello mushrooms, or cinghiale (wild boar ragu) over pasta. It's also a perfect complement to cheeses such as pecorino toscano and taleggio.

Greppone Mazzi Brunello di Montalcino is the quintessential Brunello—traditional, elegant and deeply rooted in the terroir of Montalcino, a small hilltop village in southern Tuscany. This wine is crafted from a specific clone of the Sangiovese grape called Sangiovese Grosso, locally referred to as Brunello, or 'little dark one.' Famous for its power, longevity and elegance, this grape produces a wine which excels not only in structure but also in finesse. Greppone Mazzi Brunello di Montalcino exemplifies the philosophy of Ruffino's estate wines: century-long winemaking expertise coupled with artisan control over every step of production from vine to bottle. The label depicts an ironwork star that graces an ancient cistern on the Greppone Mazzi estate.

Only the finest, hand-harvested grapes are used to produce Greppone Mazzi Brunello di Montalcino. To ensure the best quality possible, yields are limited to two and a half tons per acre. After completing malolactic fermentation to add velvety texture, we age the wine in large oak casks (792-1,585 gallons) for about 36 months, which is 12 months longer than required by Italian law. The wine rests another six months in stainless steel tanks, is bottled, then ages an additional eight months before we release it.
